Oakville is a community that encourages business and with New Year's resolutions in full gear, here are a few great opportunities to build your business.

The Oakville Chamber of Commerce puts on two regular networking events every month which are Business After Hours and Good Morning Oakville. Business After Hours takes place at the new Dave & Busters on Wednesday January 11, 2017 starting at 5:00 PM. Good Morning Oakville takes place at the Glen Abbey Golf Club on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 7:30 AM.

Ontario Premier Wynne will be addressing the Oakville Chamber of Commerce at a Luncheon on Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Oakville Holiday Inn on Argus Road which starts at 11:30. The Premier will talk and then a moderated Question and Answer session will take place.

On Friday, January 20, 2017 RBC will provide it's Economic Outlook for 2017 at the Oakville Conference Centre starting at 7:30 AM. The outlook will be provided by Craig Wright the Senior Chief Economist for RBC, and Sean Simpson the Vice President of Ipsos Public Affairs.

Haltech a business group of  digital entrepreneurs gets together monthly. On Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 8:30 AM they will be talking about Finance and Funding at Aroma Expresso Bar at Lakeshore Road East and Reynolds in Downtown Oakville.

Jim Gray will be talking about Power Pitching at the Oakville Chamber's Lunch & Learn series at the Hilton Garden Inn on Friday, January 27, 2017 starting at 11:30 AM. Mr. Gray was named an Executive in Residence at Ryerson University's Digital Zone Media in 2017, where he serves as an in-house pitch coach.

For the young entrepreneurs there is an interesting business opportunity happening this month. Haltech is launching its Build Your Own Business Challenge for Halton entrepreneurs aged 18 to 35 who submit a business plan for a new business. Over $10,000 is available to winners. Deadline for submissions is January 20 2017.

Aside from the Oakville Chamber of Commerce, don't forget to look into services provided by Economic Development offices for Oakville and Halton. If you are lucky enough to have a retail business in Bronte Village, Kerr Village or Downtown Oakville, become active in their Business Improvement Area associations. The more plugged in you are, the stronger your business will be.
