Molly Burke, Me To We presenter and former White Oaks Secondary School student, will be speaking at an event at White Oaks Secondary School (1330 Montclair Drive, Oakville) on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 7:30 p.m.

Light After Darkness:Overcoming Bullying, Defining Yourself and Helping Others, Burke will talk about when, at age four, she was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, a retinal disease causing loss of vision. Drawing from deeply personal experiences, Burke brings audiences, especially students, a unique perspective on issues many of them face each day. Her message is that any challenge in life can be overcome whether it’s bullying, mental illness or a loss of vision.

“We are very proud to be able to feature a former White Oaks student who has successfully gone on to represent Free the Children as a top speaker,” says Sherry Kirkham, Chair of White Oaks Secondary School council. “Her message will resonate with all ages~of students and parents facing life's daily issues and provide a sense of community and hope. We also recognize and thank the Ontario Ministry of Education’s Parents Reaching Out Grant for funding this worthwhile night.”
