Halton Region is now accepting applications for its successful Summer Company Program. This program provides supports including hands on training and mentoring for student entrepreneurs between the ages of 15 and 29 and up to $3,000 in funding to help start and run their own summer business.

In 2015, Halton helped 13 student entrepreneurs with running businesses from supporting seniors to providing swimming lessons. Summer Company is a provincial initiative for youth entrepreneurship and employment that is coordinated locally through the Halton Region Small Business Centre.

Regional Council is committed to keeping our economy strong and ensuring businesses throughout the region succeed. Entrepreneurship plays a critical role in innovation and job creation and by enhancing our programs targeted at youth, we can continue to provide the next generation with the tools and guidance they need to bring their business ideas to life.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, May 6, 2016. Spaces are limited and students are encouraged to complete their application early. For a complete list of program requirements or to apply online, visit the Summer Company website at ontario.ca/summercompany. Assistance in completing the application, including preparing a business plan, is available through the Halton Region Small Business Centre.
