The 27th Annual Mayor’s Invitational Golf Tournament in support of United Way Oakville was met with great success last week. A sold out tournament, over 140 golfers enjoyed a beautiful day at Glen Abbey Golf Club, strengthening their golf swings and our community. This year’s tournament raised more than $142,000 for United Way Oakville’s 2015 fundraising campaign.

“The success of this tournament sets the tone for our annual fundraising campaign, which will kick-off in September,” Rob Lister, President & CEO of Oakville Hydro and 2015 Campaign Cabinet Chair commented. “We couldn’t do it without the support of the Town of Oakville, as well as the organizations and individuals in the community who came together to create change in the neighbourhoods we all care about.”

The afternoon of golf was followed by dinner, a silent auction and a brief award ceremony, attended by Dave Gittings, Town Councillor for Ward 3, and Councillor Sean O’Meara from Ward 1. The award ceremony, which recognized notable achievements of the day, saw Ron MacLean and team members Brad Dalgarno, Patric Festing-Smith and Mark Kirton win the award for best overall team.
