Keith Bird decided back in August not to seek re-election as the Town & Regional Councillor of Ward 3 after being elected in 1976. To celebrate his incredible dedication to Oakville and Ward 3's residents, a retirement party has been co-ordinated for Thursday, November 27th, at the Compass Restaurant in Bronte by Oakville Town Council.

The community is encouraged to come out and share their stories of Keith, which can be sent to town hall to the attention of Town Council - Keith Bird Retirement. The images and stories will be combined to share Councillor Bird's depth of dedication to our community.

"It has been both a privilege and an incredible learning experience to have been able to work closely with Keith during my first term of council. He has been a great mentor and friend, and I have deeply appreciated him sharing his vast experience," stated Dave Gitting's the newly elected Regional & Town Councillor for Ward 3.

"The highlight of my time in office was the opportunity to work with so many tireless volunteers and community leaders to preserve and enhance the great features of Oakville, such as our cherished downtown, heritage districts, trails, valleys, parks and waterfront," stated Keith Bird.

The organizing committee asks anyone with photos, clippings, memorabilia and stories about Keith Bird to contact the Town Council so they can be shared during the festivities on Thursday, November 27th. Tickets for the dinner are $75 and can be ordered through Town Council by telephone at 905-338-4173. The evening will include a sit down dinner, and several speeches and tributes to Keith.
