Glen Abbey Real Estate Information

Glen Abbey just 30 years ago was farmers fields, dotted with a few homes. About 25 years ago Glen Abbey as it is now known came to be. The boundaries are: QEW to the south, 16 Mile Creek to the East, Bronte Road to the west and Upper Middle Road on the North.

It is home to the internationally known Glen Abbey Golf Club which regularly hosts the Canadian Golf Open. The homes were built between 11 to 25 years ago, about 75% are detached usually brick 2 storey homes, 18% are low rise apartments, and 12% are townhomes. Many of the homes have gone through complete renovations. There is a wide variety of homes to choose from $1 Million plus homes backing onto the Golf Course to comfortably sized 1 bedroom apartments starting at $190,000.

There are plenty of trails for walking and biking through either planned green spaces or mature forests. This is a very family friendly area. The Glen Abbey Residents Association is well co-ordinated. There is an excellent community centre with hockey rinks, indoor pool, and squash courts all attached to the local public library.

Demographics of Glen Abbey

Over 62% of the population is married, and are highly educated with 47% having university degrees, 36% with high school diplomas, 7% with college certificates, 4% with post-graduate degrees.  The community residents are classified as mature and wealthy. Glen Abbey's population is 30% of children aged 0-19, 30 to 54 year olds are 44%, and 65 plus are 4%.

Glen Abbey Transportation

The residents of Glen Abbey have especially easy access to the QEW. Oakville Transit runs buses through the neighborhood, and GO Transit's Oakville Station and Bronte Stations are also very accessible. The primary mode of transportation is a personal vehicle.

Heritage Glen - Kindergarden to Grade 8

Pilgrims Wood - Kindergarden to Grade 8

Abbey Lane - Kindergarden to Grade 8

Abbey Park Highschool - Grades 9 to 12 - Ranked 20th in Ontario by Fraser Institute

The area is also serviced by the Catholic School Board, and there are also a number of private schools to choose from (close to Glen Abbey).

For younger children there is also a large number of daycares from private home care to multi-children co-ops.
