Concerned citizens filled the Trafalgar room at Oakville's town hall last night to discuss various sustainability issues around the town.

Led by Liz Benneian, president of the environmental citizens group Oakvillegreen, much of the meeting focused on the DND lands development near the intersection of Rebecca St. and Dorval Dr.

Officials from both the Parks and Open Spaces department and the Development and Engineering department fielded questions surrounding the matter.

Repeatedly residents said they had felt duped by the planning process, as more tree were removed in the area than they were originally led to believe.

Councillor Cathy Duddeck was also in attendance, raising her own concerns and helping to mediate between residents and the town officials.
