MP Pam Damoff appointed Parliamentary Secretary

On February 26, 2019, Prime Minister Trudeau appointed Oakville North-Burlington's MP Pam Damoff as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Health, Ginette Petitpas Taylor.

In her new role, MP Damoff supports the Minister of Health in fulfilling her mandate letter, which includes:

  1. Improving access to necessary prescription medications
  2. Addressing the devastating opioid crisis
  3. Promotion and defense of the Canada Health Act
  4. Giving Canadians the tools for healthy living

"From her stellar work with the Terry Fox Run to her tireless advocacy for healthy and active communities, Pam is a champion for healthy living," stated the Minister.

"I want to welcome Pam Damoff as my new Parliamentary Secretary.” Said Minister Ginette Petitpas Taylor. “Pam and I share a strong commitment to the health of Canadians and a passion for physical activity. From her stellar work with the Terry Fox Run to her tireless advocacy for healthy and active communities, Pam is a champion for healthy living and I look forward to working with her."

“I am humbled and honoured to have been appointed Parliamentary Secretary to Canada’s Minister of Health,” said MP Damoff. “Canada has a world-class, internationally envied health care system based on our government’s commitment to ensure all Canadians have equal access to the best health care available,"said MP Damoff.

"I look forward to working with the Health Minister to further her mandate, and improve the health of all Canadians. I have always been a proponent of healthy and active living, and this new role will allow me to continue my work on this important issue. While I assume this new role, I continue to be fully committed to representing my community of Oakville North-Burlington in Ottawa,” continued MP Pam Damoff.

Pam Damoff became a Member of Parliament in 2015.

Parliamentary Secretaries are appointed by the Prime Minister to assist Cabinet ministers with their parliamentary functions. Under the direction of their Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries handle routine matters in the House of Commons, work with caucus members to advance priorities related to their portfolio, engage in committee work and assume some extra-parliamentary responsibilities.
