Oakville Soccer Club recognized as the Builder of the Year

The Oakville Awards for Business Excellence announce  the Oakville Soccer Club (OSC) becomes this year's Genworth Community Builder of the Year Award. The award presentation is during the 24th Annual Oakville Awards for Business Excellence gala. The gala is held on Wednesday, March 27th at the Oakville Conference Centre.

"The Genworth Community Builder Award recognizes an organization that has, over a time, demonstrated exemplary business practices and dedicated involvement in the community” stated Peter DeGroot, President of The Rotary Club of Oakville West.

About the Oakville Soccer Club

In 1972 the Bronte Legion Soccer Club, Oakville United Soccer, and Oakville Minor Soccer merged to created the Oakville Soccer Club. The OSC is not-for-profit. It grew and now is the largest amateur soccer club and community sports organization in North America.  12,000 plus members with over 900 volunteers and professional coaches make up the club.

Accomplishments

The Club holds the Ontario Soccer Association’s Gold Standard Award for Club Excellence. They won eight national championships and 56 Ontario Cup.

Their athletes play both  provincially and nationally which includes the National Collegiate Athletic Association and U-Sports (Canadian Interuniversity Sport).

Throughout the years, several Oakville players earned scholarships with Universities and Colleges in Canada and the United States. OSC players have proudly represented Canada at the provincial, national and international levels including the Olympics and FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Scholarships

The Oakville Soccer Club also awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships to aid members of the club in pursuing post-secondary education during the past nine years.

The Club provided over $800,000 for scholarship. Their philosophy is to make sure that everyone in the community can play.

The Club serves the Oakville community, enabling every player – from children to seniors or ability to play the best they can.

March Break and PA Day Camps are available.

Breaking Barriers Program

The Oakville Soccer Club also offers the "Breaking Barriers" program. The program is designed for people with intellectual and/or physical disabilities. It introduces players not only to the game, but also to the fundamentals of physical literacy.

Players enjoy a comfortable and inclusive environment. The coaches and support staff encourage them to learn and engage at their own pace, while making new friends.

Oakville Awards of Business Excellence Night

Oakville Awards of Business Excellence gala takes place on Wednesday March 27, 2019 at the Oakville Conference Centre. It starts with a reception at 5:30 PM and followed by a dinner. Tickets are $135 per person.
