Oakvillegreen Conservation Association is pleased to announce that it has received a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation for a total of $134,200 to fund programs and two staff members in the Town of Oakville over the next two years.

“I was very pleased to hear that Oakvillegreen, thanks to this grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, will be able to continue to support the wellbeing of Oakville’s green spaces. The tireless advocacy of Oakvillegreen has helped to promote sustainable planning and built a stronger and greener Oakville, and they are very deserving of this support,” said Oakville MPP, Kevin Flynn.

More than ever, people are realizing the importance of the tree canopy and nature in our urban setting. We are delighted that we will be able to deliver and expand a range of community environmental programs with local groups, schools, businesses and other community partners to make Oakville a healthier place to live.

Oakvillegreen will be hiring an Executive Director and Manager of Tree and Education programs to support their work. Details about the positions can be found at www.Oakvillegreen.org/Careers .

Oakvillegreen Conservation Association (OCA) is a grassroots, non-partisan community organization founded in 1999. OCA’s mission is to protect and grow the natural environment in Oakville to make Oakville a healthier place to live. OCA has successfully accomplished these goals over the past 15 years through a combination of advocacy, education programs and environmental initiatives like community tree planting. OCA was instrumental in the formation of the Natural Heritage System in North Oakville, in a precedent–setting Ontario Municipal Board ruling, which preserved 30 percent of the land north of Dundas Street from development.

A leading grantmaker in Canada, the Ontario Trillium Foundation strengthens the capacity of the voluntary sector through investments in community-based initiatives. An agency of the Government of Ontario, OTF builds healthy and vibrant communities: www.otf.ca
