Old Oakville is the original settlement area of the town and is home to the historic shopping district which includes: all financial services, cafes, restaurants, boutiques, spas, and an independent bookstore. Halton Health Care's Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital is located in the district along with its long term health care facility: Wyndam. This particular neighbourhood will be going through a major land transition since one of the largest section of public land will change in nature. The South Central Land Study best describes how the town envisions the land's use.
Old Oakville is bounded by the following: 16 mile creek to the west, QEW to the North, Chartwell Road to the East, and Lake Ontario to the South. This Oakville neighborhood is heavily treed, with many historic homes, parks and churches. The central library, Centennial pool, the Oakville Centre for the performing arts, and one of the town's main art galleries are located in Old Oakville. There are three designated historical districts: Olde Oakville, Downtown Oakville, and Trafalgar.
The Oakville Harbor is a very busy place in the summer, with mooring for sail and motor boats. Several of the private clubs: Oakville Club, Oakville Power Boat Club, Oakville Yacht Squadron and the Burloak Canoe Club all find there homes on the banks of the Sixteen Mile Creek.

Over 50% of the population are married, and have a university degree. 9% of the community has post graduate degree. The community is mixed in age from little children attending schools to the many seniors who enjoy the convenience of walking to local services.
Old Oakville Transportation
Old Oakville is one of the few locations that residents can walk to the GO Train, which has an express train direct in to Toronto's Union Station taking 22 minutes. The GO Station and Old Oakville Shopping district are the central hubs for Oakville Transit. The main highway for this area is the QEW, with easy access to the 403 and 407 Highways.

Oakville Trafalgar Memorial High School - Grades 9 to 12. This high school is one of the top ranked high schools in Ontario, and has a full compliment of courses, sports, and clubs.
MacLachlan College - JK to 12, a co-ed private school located on Trafalgar Road.
