United Way Oakville Reaches $4.5 Million Goal

On Thursday, March 2, United Way Oakville proudly announced that the Oakville community raised $4.5 million for its 2016 fundraising campaign.

The announcement was made at United Way Oakville’s Community Celebration Night at the Oakville Conference Centre. The event featured Chris Mei from The Weather Network as emcee, and a lively dance performance by a dance group from United Way Oakville funded ArtHouse, in addition to the traditional awards ceremony. With nearly 400 people in attendance, the event honoured local organizations and individuals for their outstanding contributions to United Way.

“I would like to personally thank you all for helping make Oakville a better place to live,” said Terry Smith, 2016 Campaign Cabinet Chair, “From our agencies, community partners, government, labour and private sector partnerships, your generosity has proven that together, we are possibility. You helped to bring us all together to strengthen the lives of our neighbours and communities.”

The 2016 Campaign raised the most money in United Way Oakville’s 61 year history, making this years’ success, that much more impressive.

2016 Spirit Award Winners

United Way Oakville’s Spirit Awards recognize excellence in community giving among its dedicated volunteers, donors, and corporate supporters. This year’s Spirit Award winners have stood out in the areas of creativity, innovation, and overall commitment to building a better town for us all.

The 2016 Spirit Award Winners:

  3. Finance Division Award – Genworth Canada
  4. Major Bank Division Award – BMO Bank of Montreal
  5. Public Service/Education Division Award – Appleby College

United Way Oakville funds 31 local human and social service agencies supporting over 34,000 people in Oakville.
