West Harbor is bounded by the Sixteen Mile Creek on the East, Rebbecca Street on the North, Dorval on the West, and Lake Ontario on the South. Like most of Oakville's neighborhoods it has a very strong residents association, who are very involved in the new developments in their community ensuring a strong developments, the latest being the 111 Forsythe Condominiums on the banks of the Sixteen Mile Creek. The area is has a wide variety of homes which were primarily built 26 to 60 years ago and range from Lake front Estates to more modest townhouses on Brock Street. There are also historical homes, and beautiful modern family homes. Finally there is one private sailing club: Oakville Yacht Club, and the town has boating slips in the harbor.
There are two new developments located in the area which will be using Geo-Thermal Heating and Cooling: A small range of townhouses on Rebecca between Brant and Brock, and Windemere which is a mult-storey condominium located at Lakeshore and Dorval. Finally, there are plans for a condominium project on Lakeshore between Brant and Brock.
