The Town is looking for volunteers to serve on a number of committees for the 2014-2018 term of Council, and applications will be accepted until Friday, November 14th. Council draws on the expertise of citizen volunteer members on advisory committees and boards to provide input on matters within the town.

Accessibility Advisory Committee
This committee advises the Mayor and Council on matters related to the identification, removal and prevention of barriers for persons with disabilities.The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, states that the majority of members must be persons with disabilities.
Meeting time: second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m.
Committee of Adjustment
The committee considers applications for minor variances from the zoning by-law, applications for land division (consent to sever land), and any other variances specified by council that implement the official plan.
Meeting time: second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.
Community Spirit Awards Selection Committee
The Selection Committee shall be comprised of the Mayor, who shall serve as Chair, and two Members of Council, and a minimum of four other members to be appointed by Council upon recommendations of the Administrative Services Committee.

Heritage Oakville Advisory Committee
The mandate of Heritage Oakville is to advise Council on the identification, conservation and promotion of heritage resources in Oakville.
Meeting time: fourth Tuesday of each month at 9:30 a.m.
Oakville Public Library Board
The Board will provide a comprehensive, efficient, accountable and affordable public library service that reflects the unique needs of the Town of Oakville.
Meeting time: fourth Thursday of each month at 7 p.m.
Property Standards Committee
This Committee considers appeals to Property Standards Orders issued by Property Standards Officers. It is the responsibility of the Secretary of the Property Standards Committee to accept all applications for processing, upon submission by the appellant.
Meeting time: meetings held during the day as required, with limited notice
