This Saturday, an award-winning assembly of young musicians held their annual jazz concert at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School.

High Rendition Jazz, an award-winning assembly of high school aged jazz musicians in the Halton area of Ontario, Canada recently held it’s Annual Concert at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School – with special guests Halton Junior Jazz.

Above all, the band hopes to make the community a better place by playing great jazz music. Through the efforts of its band members, and even parents and volunteers, the band has been performing at high-profile venues and events in efforts to showcase their talent.

According to Reema Duggal, one of the parents on the Executive Team, “The annual concert is our biggest showcase of the year for these great musicians.  The entire band and parent community comes together with their families, friends, and neighbours to hear great jazz. It’s also wonderful to see the musicians of Halton Junior Jazz (grade 7 and 8), as we get to see up and coming talent.”

The band played a rendition of some great jazz numbers like "The Chicken" and "Big Giant Numbers." Taking to the stage with their adept music prowess, the performance was well received by the family members of band members, teachers, and other Oakville community members.

"This band is phenomenal!" said Aly Ayoub, a student at Humber College who attended the concert. "As a Metal-head, to really find joy and be inspired by jazz music only means it has to be a good band playing."

Furthermore, Zach Gray, a 4th year Animation student at Sheridan College was also impressed. "I have to say, this band is very skilled and I'm already looking forward to their next performance!"

According to Hari Lal, High Rendition Jazz’s drummer, “I love playing in High Rendition Jazz.  The opportunity to perform for a large crowd of families and friends makes me and all the other band members very proud to showcase the results our hard work through the year.”

The next performance by High Rendition Jazz will be for Oakville's Canada Day celebration taking place at the Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park. To follow more exploits on the winning band, visit their website.
