The Bronte BIA (Business Improvement Area) has officially announced its sponsorship of the 2015 Oakville’s Art in the Park which will take place on August 3, 2015, one of southern Ontario’s premier fine art shows.

A $2,500 cheque was presented April 13th to the Oakville Art Society at its studio headquarters at 560 Bronte Rd. Art in the Park was first held in 1965 and is now celebrating its 49th Annual exhibition. It is an annual outdoor fine art show and sale held on the August 4th Civic Holiday Monday in Bronte’s Heritage Waterfront Park.

“Bronte is the home of the Oakville Art Society, and the home of Oakville’s Art in the Park for over 50 years”, said Doug McKirgan, Director of Fundraising, “we are delighted to welcome the Bronte BIA as a major sponsor, and look forward to working more closely together”.

Art in the Park features more than 175 artists and artisans from across the country. The event attracts thousands of people to Bronte Village Heritage Park waterfront. Visitors to the 2015 show will see the return of some of the same artists as in previous years, as well as some newcomers. Artists come from far and wide – this year there are artists from Quebec, British Columbia and from as far away as the Bahamas. Every medium is represented, from traditional oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings to glass, ceramics, textiles, photography, mixed media, sculptures and fine jewelry.” Visit: http://www.artintheparkoakville.com for more details.

“The Bronte BIA values Art in the Park as a major event for the area drawing residents and visitors alike”, said Mary Roberts, Chair of the Bronte BIA, “and the economic benefit is evident to our local area businesses who enjoy the influx of new dollars into our community. Bronte is fortunate to be called the home of Art in the Park”.

Bronte Village celebrates art and culture each year with Culture Days in September. It is home to a number of artistic businesses: Trias Gallery, CJ’s Café, Don Singular Music Studio, Harmony Arts Academy, the Music Boxx and Taste of Columbia Fair Trade Coffee & Gift Shop. They have collectively banded together and are sponsoring a new event, “The Lake Walk”. This new event is inspired by Hamilton’s very successful Art Crawl. The walks will be held the first Thursday of every month in Bronte Village: May 7, June 4, July 2, and August 6, 2015 from 6-10pm,featuring special promotions, art, food and live music.
