Cycle Oakville is hosting its second annual CycloFemme ride this year with a leisurely ride through Oakville.

All Oakville residents who want to enjoy our beautiful town by bicycle are invited to meet at 1:45 pm on Sunday, May 11th at Gairloch Gardens, 1306 Lakeshore Road East. This family friendly ride will start at 2:00 pm following neighbourhood streets to Lakeside Park on Navy Street, where participants can enjoy a warm beverage. Prior to the ride, Oakville Galleries (located at Gairloch Gardens) will welcome riders to take a look around - the gallery opens at 1:00 pm.

After the ride will be the perfect opportunity to visit merchants and restaurants in Downtown Oakville.

I heard about CycloFemme at the National Bike Summit in Washington in 2013, and thought it would be a great event to bring to Oakville. I'll be there and look forward to celebrating cycling with family and friends.

All ages and abilities are welcome to participate. Helmets are recommended for all, but required for anyone 18 years of age and under.

"When Pam mentioned the ride at the Cycle Oakville AGM, I thought it would be a great way to get involved in our community. We will have CycloFemme temporary tattoos for all riders this year, and I'm really excited to be part of what is becoming an Oakville tradition." said Monica Watson, this year's Ride Organizer.

CycloFemme is an annual Mother’s Day ride uniting riders, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity or bicycle preference to share in the joy of cycling. With 160 rides in 29 countries around the world, Oakville is one of seven Canadian locations to take part in this annual event. Visit www.cyclofemme.com for information on this worldwide celebration of cycling.

This ride is part of Cycle Oakville's series of leisurely rides designed to encourage residents to shop, dine, explore and discover all that our Town and businesses have to offer. Watch for details of the Healthy Kids event at the YMCA on June 1st, and a Tour de Oakville Trees on June 8th.
