Oakville is going to experience a cultural weekend starting on Friday as Cultural Days kicks off and on Saturday Halton's Doors Open opens doors not usually open. This weekend explore the great experiences taking place in Oakville.

Culture Days

Culture Days is a national event where communities are invited to explore the cultural elements that make up Canada which includes music, dance, visual displays, theatrical performances, and sports. The event will take place in a number of venues through out the town which include:

  1. Bronte Village
  2. Downtown Oakville's Towne Square
  3. Community Centres
  4. Lions Valley Park
  5. Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts
  6. Oakville Public Libraries
  7. Oakville Galleries

Programs include:

  1. Fine Arts & Crafts: Painting, Drawing, Woodcarving, Fibre Art Demonstrations, Knitting & Crochet, Clay Modelling, Quilting, Digital, Photography
  2. Music Programs: Rock & Roll, DJ, Choral, Orchestral, Drumming, Recording, Steel Pan, Classical
  3. Dance: Caribbean, Chinese, Scottish, Indian
  4. Live Theatre and Movies
  5. Sports: Martial Arts, Hiking

Halton's Doors Open

Doors Open provides the community with an opportunity to explore unique structures and landmarks that make up Oakville. Most locations will have people available to answer questions and a few locations will be providing guided tours. Doors will usually open 10:00 AM and run until 4:00 PM, on Saturday, September 30,2017.

  3. Canadian Forces Armoury
  4. Canadian Golf Hall of Fame and Museum
  5. Erchless Estate
  6. First Post Office
  7. Greenhouse
  8. Historical Society
  9. Iroquois Ridge Public Library
  10. Knox Presbyterian Church
  11. Masonic Hall
  12. Merrick Thomas House
  13. Oakville Galleries at Centennial Square and Gairloch Gardens
  14. Palermo Schoolhouse
  15. Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre
  16. St. Andrew's Church & Parish
  17. St. Jude's Anglican Church
  18. Sovereign House
