The addition of over 100 cats has left the Oakville & Milton Humane Society bursting at the seams, with close to 400 cats in their care. They are hoping to find homes for 100 cats during a special “Fall for Felines” Cat Adopt-a-thon, taking place from Friday, October 18th to the 27th.

All adult cats and kittens over 6 months of age will be just $75 during the Fall for Felines Cat Adopt-a-thon, making it an excellent time to add the unconditional love of a cat to your family. The $75 adoption fee includes spay or neuter, all vaccines up to date, micro-chipping, six weeks of free pet insurance and a small bag of Hills Science Diet food. The regular adoption price is just $150, making the Fall for Felines price a great value.

“We are hoping the reduced price will encourage people to adopt one, or perhaps two of our really terrific adult cats” said Stephanie Aleksich, Manager of Customer Care for the OMHS.

“All our regular adoption procedures and protocols are in place for the adopt-a-thon, because we want people to make the purrrfect match with their new pet”.

The Oakville & Milton Humane Society decided to hold the Adopt-a-thon in order to find homes for the 290 cats already in their care when they removed 107 cats from a home in Halton Hills. Unfortunately, none of the cats from the removal will be ready for adoption during the Fall for Felines Adopt-a-thon. The shelter is hoping that by adopting out 100 cats during theadopt-a-thon it will help make more room for these cats and find loving “forever homes” for the cats already available for adoption.

The Oakville & Milton Humane Society is located at 445 Cornwall Road in Oakville. The hours for viewing animals are Tuesday and Wednesday noon to 5pm, Thursday and Friday noon to 8pm and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5pm. Cats available for adoption may be viewed on the shelter website omhs.ca.
