Children

Robinson Crusoe + Friday will be performed on Thursday, February 1st at 7:00 pm. It is presented by the Axis Theatre. The performances are recommended for children, whose ages range from  5 to 12.

"NO MAN IS AN ISLAND UNTO HIMSELF"

An English sailor, shipwrecked on a remote island, works against all odds to survive alone for 25 years. Until one day, he rescues a stranger from brutal savages and the two develop a remarkable friendship. Adapted from the classic novel by Daniel Defoe, this imaginative retelling emphasizes communication, embracing cultural differences and empathy.

Set sail with Robinson and Friday on an adventure full of comedic miscommunication, history and heart!

Theatre & Music

Sugar and Gold: Stories from the Underground Railroad will be performed on Friday, February 2nd at 8:00 pm. This performance is a sesquicentennial celebration of Ontario's Black History.

Chris Whiteley and Diana Braithwaite, two of Canada’s finest blues performers, have created a vibrant celebration of the history of the legendary Underground Railway, which brought American slaves to freedom in what was then called Upper Canada in the early to middle years of the nineteenth century. Through songs and stories Chris and Diana tell of the famous personalities that featured in this saga, including Harriet Tubman and Josiah Henson, the inspiration for Harriet Beecher Stowe’s celebrated novel Uncle Tom’s Cabin. But it also relates stories of unsung heroes, and the common man, woman and children, who were dealing with extraordinary times.

Vienna-City of Music will be performed on Saturday, February 3rd at 8:00 pm and Sunday, February at 2:00 pm. It is presented by the Oakville Symphony Orchestra.

Be the first to hear the beautiful tones of the new Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts Steinway grand piano. The guest artist is Mehdi Ghazi who will perform Beethoven Piano Concerto #1 and Brahms Symphony #1 with the Symphony.

Comedy

Ali Hassan: Muslim Interrupted will be performed on Saturday, February 10th at 8:30 pm in the Studio Theatre.

Ali Hassan is a stand-up comic, actor, chef and generally harmless Muslim who has performed on stages across Canada, in the U.S. and twice in the Middle East at the Amman Stand-Up Comedy Festival. He is known for his improvisational abilities with audiences as well as for his charm and wit.

Ticket prices are $45/person.

In Conversation with Kristin Hannah will talk on Sunday, February 11th at 2:00 pm in QE Park's Rehersal Hall. This author talk is present by the Oakville Public Library and Different Drummer Books.

Kristin Hannah is an award-winning and bestselling author of more than 20 novels including the international blockbuster, The Nightingale.

Join her as she talks about her newest book, The Great Alone - a story of a family in crisis and a young girl struggling to survive at the edge of the world, in America’s last true frontier.

Dance

3, 2, 1 Dance will be performed on Friday, February 16th at 8:00 pm.

An eclectic showcase of solos, duets and trios with some of Ontario’s best!

Engage, experience and embrace this eclectic program featuring signature solo, duet and trio works from some of Ontario’s prominent dancers and choreographers including Robert Desrosiers,Yvonne Ng, Robert Glumbek and Jasmyn Fyffe.

Offering an array of world touring works of contemporary dance from diverse artists, this night of dance has something for everyone.

This is a pay-What-You-Can performance (PWYC). Please book in advance so you are not disappointed.

Music

Sing-a-Long Grease will take place on Saturday, February 17th at 2:00 pm and again at 7:00 pm.

Ever wanted to know what it’s like to be a T-bird or a Pink Lady but never quite felt cool enough to pull it off? Well, now is your chance to don those pink jackets, grease up those quiffs and let your inhibitions go for an evening where you are the stars. The event begins with your Sing-a-long-a Grease host leading a vocal warm-up before they show you how to use your free interactive prop bag during the film and suggest some appropriate heckles and accompanying actions.

Dance

The Peking Acrobats will perform on Friday, February 23rd at 8:00 pm, the earlier performance has sold out.

For the last thirty one years, The Peking Acrobats® have redefined audience perceptions of Chinese acrobatics. They perform daring maneuvers atop a precarious pagoda of chairs and display their technical prowess at such arts as trick-cycling, precision tumbling, juggling, somersaulting, and gymnastics. They push the limits of human ability, defying gravity with amazing displays of contortion, flexibility, and control. Time-honored Chinese music coalesces with high-tech special effects and awe-inspiring acrobatic feats, creating an exuberant entertainment event with the festive pageantry of a Chinese Carnival.

They have been featured on Ellen’s Really Big Show (hosted by Ellen DeGeneres), The Wayne Brady Show, That’s Incredible, ABC’s Wide World of Sports, and much more.

Dione Taylor & Digging Roots will perform on Saturday, February 24th at 8:00 pm.

Juno-winning First Nations power couple Shoshona Kish and Raven Kanatakta have built Digging Roots blues/rock sound on a unique musical marriage of unvarnished truth and unconditional love. Most of the February 2018 performances will take place in the main auditorium. Tickets for February 2018 can be purchased at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Art's Box office located at 146 Navy Street. Box Office hours are from Monday to Friday: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and on Saturday from 1:00 PM to the beginning of a performance. Tickets are also available online.
