On Sunday, September 7th the Oakville & Milton Humane Society is looking forward a record number of animal lovers will come out to “walk for the animals and stay for the fair” at the Oakville Mutt Strutt & Fall Fair presented by Pets Plus Us Pet Insurance.

The event begins at noon with a pledged 5km “Strutt” through olde Oakville led by Carrie Olver of The Shopping Channel. New for this year, the 1/2km “Stroll” around Cornwall Road Park will be led by CP24 Lead Anchor Ann Rohmer, host of Animal House Calls.

“Last year Ann Rohmer came out to welcome everyone to the Mutt Strutt and had so much fun that this year she will be leading the 1⁄2 km “Stroll”, said Brenda Dushko, Manager of Fund Development & Communication for the OMHS. “This has been a very challenging summer for the Oakville & Milton Humane Society’ continued Dushko “the funds raised at the Oakville Mutt Strutt & Fall Fair will change the lives of many orphaned, homeless, abused and neglected animals forever”.

After the “Strutt” and “Stroll” are completed the Fall Fair kicks into high gear with a dog agility demonstration by Team K9 sponsored by Oliver Pets & Co.. The Fun Dog Show sponsored by PJ’s Pets is always a big hit with local dogs showing off their best trick or “wiggle waggle” to win great prizes. The Silent Auction tables will be brimming with great items to bid on including a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bid on yoga classes by world famous, award winning Latin Guitarist Johannes Linstead, an Oakville resident and lifelong animal lover. The Oakville Mutt Strutt Vendor Marketplace features incredible items for pets and the people who love them. Children of all ages will love the Oakville Mutt Strutt’s Kids Zone, sponsored by local Remax realtor Sandra Simpson and full of crafts, games and face painting fun!

Another new activity for this year is a special “Dog Gone Great Dog Reunion” which will take place at the Oakville & Milton Humane Society. The shelter would like to see their entire dog “alumni” come out to the event to “paw it forward” to help all the dogs still waiting for a forever home. A group Alumni Photo will be taken at the event; staff and volunteers are looking forward to seeing some of their favourite dogs at the event.

100% of the funds raised at the Oakville & Milton Humane Society will be used to help the orphaned, homeless, abused and neglected animals of our community. The goal for this year’s Oakville Mutt Strutt & Fall Fair is $40,000 which, when reached, will help the over 6,000 animals that will need the help of the OMHS in 2014.

Pledge forms are available at the shelter and throughout the community at local businesses. Animal lovers may also set up their own safe, secure online pledge page to raise money using social media contacts.
