This wonderful retrospective which outlines a lifetime of creativity by Oakville/Waterdown artist Gloria Marshall who passed away earlier this year. Gloria started her art career in Oakville as a fibre artist, and over the course of her lifetime and world travels she created a body of work that includes weaving, sculpture, painting, collage, book art, writing, poetry, installations and photography.
Gloria was Influenced by studies with sculptor Almuth Lutkenhaus, Diana McNish, as well as the Ontario College of Art and the University of Guelph. Her work developed via inspiring friendships and associations via a decades' long collaboration with the Oakville Group /Continuum. She was a neighbour of the Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre for many years.

Gloria was commissioned for both her Fine Art and Design Work. Her pieces can be found in Public Airports, Toronto's SkyDome, private residences, commercial galleries, offices and restaurants in Canada and abroad. She taught at Sheridan and Mohawk Colleges and held workshops for high school students in Etobicoke. Her travels to Japan, Egypt, Hawaii, Australia, Mexico, China and Tibet had great influences on her art.
This exhibition will show a range of work from early fibre arts pieces, paper collages inspired by travels to Egypt, sculpture and paint on papers and canvas as well as altered books and photography. On Sunday July 20th, there will be art making including making a keepsake print of one Gloria Marshall's linocuts.
