They are all faith celebrations that families in our Halton communities will be observing in May.  To honour faith and family in our religiously diverse region, The Interfaith Council of Halton (ICH) will be holding its 5th Annual Interfaith Breakfast for Peace from 7-9 a.m. on May 15 at Shaarei-Beth El Congregation in Oakville.  All are welcome to attend!

This year, the event will feature keynote speaker Reverend Canon John Hill. Canon Hill is a Christian, an Anglican priest, former interfaith officer of the Diocese of Toronto, and is also married, the father of three, stepfather of two, and grandfather of six.  His interactive presentation will centre on Living a Life of Faith in a Changing World.

The program will also include presentations by local faith leaders; a culturally-oriented breakfast; and multi-faith devotional activities led by clergy and youth representatives from various Halton faith communities.

“We have so many diverse faiths in Halton,” notes Rabbi Stephen Wise, Chair of the ICH. “May 15th is Shavuot and rather than steer clear of holding an event on our religious day, we specifically decided to welcome guests on our holy day to honour and celebrate it with them. The breakfast will be a chance to meet people of different backgrounds, discuss issues of religious pluralism and enjoy a delicious Jewish breakfast with bagels, cream cheese and lox. What more could you ask for!”

Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for youth.  To purchase tickets for this family-centred, multi-faith celebration, e-mail Rabbi Wise at [email protected] or Maria DiDanieli at [email protected].
