As the holiday season approaches Halton Regional Police and the Oakville Professional Fire Fighters Association begin their toy and gift programs. The mission of these two programs is to ensure that every Oakville child in need will have a toy or gift to open on Christmas Morning.
On Saturday, December 2, 2017, Halton Regional Police will be holding their Toy Drive called "Toys for Tots". The police will have three cruisers located in Oakville. Police officers and volunteers will be accepting new unwrapped toys, cash, gift cards (great for teens) or Canadian Tire money. Parents are encouraged to bring their children along, so that they can explore a police cruiser. Help the Halton Regional Police cram their cruisers full of toys.
The Halton Regional Police "Toys for Tots" cruisers will be located at Canadian Tire locations from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 2, 2017.
Oakville locations are:
- 400 Dundas Street, Oakville (South East Corner of Dundas & Trafalgar)
- 2510 Hyde Park Gate, Oakville (South East Corner of Hwy 403 & Dundas)
- 1100 Kerr Street, Oakville (North West Corner of QEW/403 & North Service Road W.)
The Oakville Professional Fire Fighters Assocation 2017 Toy Drive kicked off at Oakville's Santa Claus Parade, and will run until Monday, December 18, 2017. All donations will be distributed to local families, institutions and community agencies.
“We are so very grateful for the support we receive from the Oakville Firefighters Toy Drive,” said Michelle Pommells, Home Suite Hope President and CEO. “The toys provided are one of the highlights of the holidays for the children in our program”.
Similar to Halton Regional Police "Toys for Tots", the Oakville Professional Fire Fighters Association Toy Drive is asking for unwrapped gifts as well as gift cards; however, all donations are greatly appreciated. Community groups and corporations are also encouraged to spread the holiday cheer by organizing their own toy drives and/or donations to support the Toy Drive.
