Live at the Oakville Centre: March 2016

Coming up at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts in March will include concerts by The Trews, Kat Danser’s Mississippi Juke Joint, Classic Albums Live: Animals, and the Downchild Blues Band. Ballet Jorgen's Sleeping Beauty will physically translate the classic tale. For the children, Daniel Tiger's Neighbour, and Rotherglen School's "Into the Woods" will captivate young and old. For the lovers of live theatre the Oakville Players will perform Miss Shakespeare, and the Oakville Public Library will host authors Yan Martel and Lynne Kutsukake.

Into the Woods performed by Rotherglen School will take place on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday March 2, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $20.00.

"Into the Woods" is Rotherglen School's 14th annual musical at the Oakville Centre. We are thrilled this year to have a cast of 125 students, ranging in age from 8 to 14. The story is exciting for the whole family - a tale of endeavour and perseverance, highlighted by the famous fairy tale characters of the Brothers Grimm. The show runs for approximately 1 hour, 40 minutes, including a 20 minute interval.

The Trews is an acoustic performance taking place on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. Regular Tickets are $68.00.

Sometimes the most exceptional and rewarding things are things you don't see coming but are open enough to embrace. Take The Trews' highly acclaimed acoustic tours, for instance. Though the Toronto-‐based foursome made its name dishing intense, hooky, melodic rock and roll that won fans and critics worldwide, The Trews discovered, serendipitously, that turning down the volume actually dialed up the heft.

Miss Shakespeare will take on March 9-12, 2016 AT 8:00 p.m. AND March 13, 2016 AT 2:00 p.m. The Oakville Players presents Miss Shakespeare by Tracey Power. Tickets are $28.00.

Behind the dingy walls of The Cage Tavern, six women explore the seductive power of the theatre. With a musical score influenced by underground European Cabaret, the women embrace their voice and their desire to be free. However, the law is not on their side and if thes artists are to truly have a voice, they must find the courage to get beyond the walls and in front of an audience. Entertaining and a bit naughty!

Classic Albums Live: Animals will take place on Thursday, March 24 at 8:00 p.m. Regular Tickets are $65.00.

It begins somewhere for everyone. There's the first song that grabs your attention and seizes the imagination, the first album that demonstrates such overall strength and originality that it becomes something more for most listeners, just as there is the first kiss that awakens the soul and forever changes the vision. It is the acute anthropomorphic fantasy, possessing a timeless quality that has thrust it into the category of "classic," though it may remain forever in the shadow of its more commercially successful older brother, Dark Side of the Moon. Within this impenetrable fortress of radio- unfriendly tracks, we hear Dave Gilmour's guitars at their absolute best, get a full-on dose of Roger Waters' powerful lyrical imagery, and are presented with the worst elements of our own humanity- packaged in the skins of Sheep, Dogs and Pigs (Three Different Ones). For those weaned on The Wall and Dark Side, you'll find Animals to be a whole new bag of feed.

Classic Albums Live. The world’s greatest classic rock albums. Performed live on stage. No
