March Break 2015 in Oakville: Have a great time!

The town of Oakville, Bronte Creek Provincial Park and the Oakville YMCA have several programs that still have space for your child's march break adventure. March Break is a great time to enjoy the warming sun of late winter/early spring. Have fun!!

Beetle Bugs

This full-day program will suit any young child (ages 4-5) who loves to play, meet friends and have fun. Theme days, cool crafts, games and special guests will add to the program. Join this program for the full day and let your imagination take you away!

Programs with availability:

  • Wednesday, March 18 – Amazing Animals plus Safari Science Reptile Show, 10-11 a.m.
  • Friday, March 20 – Fantastic Farewell with pizza lunch (remember to bring snacks and drinks) plus Magician, 10-11 a.m.

Bonanza

What a week we have planned for you! Join us for awesome out trips, special guests, themes, games, crafts, a pizza lunch on Friday and so much more! It's sure to be March Break Madness! Age: 6-9

  • Thursday, March 19 – Conservation Halton Birds of Prey Show (on site), 10 a.m.-noon
  • Friday, March 20 – Swim at Glen Abbey Community Centre, 10:30-11:15 a.m. or 11:15 a.m.-noon, with a pizza lunch (please provide two drinks and two snacks) and a G-rated movie, time to be determined.

Break Out

Let us help you 'break out' to all the spots you want to get to this March Break! If you can get yourself to the program site we will take care of the rest. Register for the whole week or take only a day of your choice. Pack a lunch, snack and drink everyday but Friday! Schedule is subject to change. Age: 10-13

  • Monday, March 16 – Toronto Zoo, 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
  • Friday, March 20 – Waves Indoor Waterpark, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., plus a pizza lunch!

Oakville Museum Programs

Explore, discover and create at your community museum this March Break! Take inspiration from the historical collection at the Oakville Museum as we explore the world of decorative arts. Discover a variety of traditional techniques and build your artistic skills. Challenge yourself to create a masterpiece at the museum! Ages 6-10

Monday, March 16

Mosaics – Put a twist on an ancient art form, and design your own mosaics. Experiment with pebbles, paper and seeds.

Tuesday, March 17

Painting – Explore the paintings in the museum! Use examples of decorative objects from the historical collection to inspire your creative activities and paint your own masterpieces.

Wednesday, March 18 and Thursday, March 19

Collage and Decoupage – Decorate your own notebook with decoupage and experiment with mixed media collage using fabrics, paper and paint! This two-day workshop will be an exploration of colour and images to create unique personalized artwork.

Friday, March 20

Beading – Beadaholics take note! Make fun and easy beading projects to take home. Wear your creations as jewellery, or use your designs to decorate your stuff.

March Break Clay All Ages Drop-In

Whether you’re a novice, pro or just curious about clay, drop by the Clay Studio for a super cool and inspiring afternoon of creativity. The studio technician will be available for assistance and to lead basic hand building demonstrations:

Thursday 1-4 p.m.

Friday 1-4 p.m.

Saturday 2-5 p.m.

No wheel work during this session. Fee is $8 per participant, plus an additional $5 for those who wish to fire and glaze their masterpiece. Clay pieces take up to three weeks to be finished; you will not take it home the day of the drop-in. Children must be accompanied by an adult. First come, first served. Spaces are limited.

Bronte Creek Maple Syrup Festival

The maple syrup festivities are open to the public from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every weekend in March and from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily through March Break.

Enjoy March Break at the Y!

We’re introducing March Break Passes for everyone to enjoy the Y over March Break! Passes will be valid from Saturday, March 14 to Sunday, March 22, with the following pricing:

  • Child and Youth – $20.00
  • Student – $25.00 (+HST)
  • Adult – $30 (+HST)
  • Adult Plus – $45 (+HST)

The Oakville YMCA will also credit back the full pass fee if you join as a regular member by March 31, 2015. Note: There is no family discount option for this promotion.
