The Oakville Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with TVCOGECO, Oakville Beaver, and The Oakville, Milton and District Real Estate Board will be hosting a Candidates Meet & Greet and Mayoral Debate for the 2014 Municipal Election on Wednesday, October 1 at the Oakville Conference Centre.

All 68 registered candidates for the 2014 Municipal Election have been invited to participate in the Meet & Greet from 5pm to 7pm. Oakville residents are encouraged to attend the event to get to know the candidates running for their ward’s Town Councillor, Town and Regional Councillor, School Board Trustee, and Regional Chair at Large. The informal tradeshow format provides an excellent opportunity to speak one-on-one with the candidates about voters' top concerns.

A Mayoral Debate will take place after the Meet & Greet featuring Mayoral Candidates Rob Burton, Gordon Brennan, Mary Kennedy, John McLaughlin, and Greg Warchol. Audience members will be given the opportunity to submit questions on cards that will be collected by Chamber staff that evening. Alternatively, questions to the candidates can be submitted in advance of the debate via email to [email protected] with subject line: ‘All Candidates Question’.

“The Candidates’ Meet & Greet and Mayoral Debate provide an opportunity for the Oakville community to engage with the municipal candidates,” said Kerry Colborne, Chair of Oakville Chamber of Commerce.  “This important event enables Oakville voters to ask the candidates about issues that directly affect their homes, families, and community at large.”

The Chamber would like to thank the candidates for agreeing to take part in this event. Without their participation it could not take place.

“We are delighted with the positive responses we have received from the candidates when asked to take part in this meeting,” commented Jack McCrudden, President of the Oakville, Milton and District Real Estate Board. “We hope Oakville’s residents and businesses take advantage of this opportunity to have their questions answered so that they can make an informed vote.”
