Midnight Madness goes Crazy for 2013

Midnight Madness has been taking over downtown Oakville for the past 36 years, and this year promises to give us a chance to reconnect with neighbours at a fun street party. Jasper Moester, who headed up administration and member services for several years is expecting from 60,000 to 70,000 people to attend. Unfortunately, the downtown BIA is going to miss Jasper's friendly voice, as he moves on to a communications and events position with the City of Toronto. He promises to be attend Midnight Madness.

For all of those who decide to ride your bike, a free bike corral will be located on Church Street just east of Trafalgar Road. All the regular lots will be open with just one exception, which is the lot on Thomas. Other potential parking spots are at either west of Forysthe or East of Alan.

Parking plus 6 shuttle buses will be running from downtown Oakville to the Oakville GO Station. The cost is only $2.00 round trip. If you are carrying all the loot you've purchased, you'll be really glad of the shuttle service.

New retailers for this year are Island View and Glammagal Tween Spa. New food restaurants include: BRU, Marylin Monroe Cafe, Sinsaki Bar, and Piazza Bistro (which will be licenced). Almost all the restaurants and cafes will have patios onto Lakeshore, so dining al Fresco will be no problem. Two new demonstrations will be taking place from Oakville's award winning Robotics Team, and representatives for the PAN AM games.

For entertainment there will be 9 stages providing a plethora of acts. At the main stage in town square: Classic Rock Live - Frank Rio and Imbayakunas will be performing.

On the other 8 stages will be the following acts:

  • Ginger St. James - New Stage just outside by Cobbs
  • The Bluesers
  • Tinny Little Doses
  • Civil Rights Steel Drum Band
  • Irish Dancers
  • Peter Toller & little Elegance
  • Belly Up Belly Dancers

So get on your walking shoes and head to downtown Oakville for a fantastic night out on Friday July 19th from 6:00 PM to Midnight. You'll have a great time.
