It was a pleasure visiting the newest winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL), Two Sisters Vineyards, on December 21st - their one month anniversary since opening in November of 2014. Set in a gorgeous space with vineyards planted in 2007 that were formally peach orchards, their first harvest happened in 2010. While speaking with Giuseppe Paolicelli, husband of one of the two sisters, he said it is all about family, food and wine. Looking at their logo you can see seven grapes between the two sisters signifying their children, of which each has two daughters - sisters.

The Two Sisters InterVin Gold Medal award-winning Eleventh Post, a red blend comprised of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot pays homage to the post that Paolicelli carved during their first harvest on September 20, 2010, thus its namesake. He said this was a special date for their family from grandchildren to grandparents who all participated in the harvest which would evolve into the first vintage of wines available at the winery today.

Wine Consultant Barbara Hamasni remarked that her job is easy because she has beautiful wines to sell. Paolicelli credits this to the knowledge and passion of their vineyard manager and winemaker stating that great wine begins in the vineyard. When visiting the Two Sisters their estate grown red wines, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Eleventh Post are not to be missed. Another "must taste" is their Lush Brut Rosé, a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with a dosage of Cabernet Franc, making for a pretty pink dry wine Niagara-style. Bellissimo!
