Scottish Fantasy

Presented by Oakville Symphony

Dates: Saturday, November 2th at 8 PM and Sunday, November 3rd 2 PM

A wonderful season opening concert weekend devoted to Celtic inspired classical masterpieces.

Max Bruch and Felix Mendelssohn’s love affair with Scotland are vividly portrayed in Bruch’s lush and beautiful “Scottish Fantasy” for violin and orchestra and Mendelssohn’s romantically charged Scottish Symphony.

Quebec superstar violinist Marc Djokic is the featured soloist as the Oakville Symphony opens its outstanding 52nd season.

Dates: Wednesday, November 6 to Saturday, November 9th at 8 PM and Sunday, November 10 at 2 PM

Leonard Vole stands accused of murdering a rich widow. The stakes are high with shocking witness testimony, impassioned outbursts from the dock and a young man's fight to escape the hangman's noose. Generally regarded as one of Christie's most accomplished plays, this suspenseful thriller keeps audiences guessing until the very end.

Date: Wednesday, November 6th at 8 PM

Huff (Solo) is the wrenching, yet darkly comic tale of Wind and his brothers, caught in a torrent of solvent abuse and at high risk of suicide. Ancestral history combines with harsh reality and gas-induced hallucination in a tale of family, love, despair, and the possibility of redemption.

Warning: Mature Content. No latecomers or reentry, once the performance has started, will be permitted.

The Young Novelists

Date: Friday, November 8th at 8 PM

Written by bandmates Graydon James and Laura Spink, their new album, In City & Country, features a collection of songs inspired by an array of Canadian towns. Highlighting stories from both urban and rural locales, the songs are based on a combination of historical research and personal experience, and ultimately show the similarities and differences between both types of places.

Date: Saturday, November 9th at 7 PM

Sound Stage Niagara presents a musical narrative of a love story set during World War II in Canada and Europe.

Approximate running time is 80 minutes with no intermission.

Bruce McCulloch: Tales of Bravery & Stupidity

Former Kids in the Hall member Bruce McCulloch’s Tales of Bravery and Stupidity is a one-man show that is funny and at times touching. Part stand-up, part storytelling, it looks at some of the bravely stupid things that Bruce has done, and things we all do as we get ourselves in and out of trouble as we “throw ourselves at life.”

Einstein's Unfinished Revolution: The Search for What Lies Beyond the Quantum

Date: Tuesday, November 19th at 7:00 PM

Globally renowned theoretical physicist Lee Smolin takes us on a journey through the basics of quantum physics, introducing the stories of the experiments and figures that have transformed the field, before wrestling with the puzzles and conundrums that they present. In his latest book, Einstein's Unfinished Revolution: The Search for What Lies Beyond the Quantum, he illuminates the existing theories about the quantum world that might solve these problems, guiding us toward his own vision that embraces common sense realism.

Miracle on 34th Street - The Play

Dates: Friday, November 22nd at 7:00 PM, Saturday, November 23rd at 2 PM & 7 PM, Sunday, November 24th at 2 PM

In Miracle on 34th Street – The Play, Kris Kringle, an old man in a retirement home, gets a job working as Santa for Macy’s. Kris unleashes waves of good will with Macy’s customers and the commercial world of New York City by referring parents to other stores to find exactly the toy their child has asked for. Deemed dangerous and deluded by Macy‘s vocational counselor, Kris is in the court system defending who he is – the true Santa!

Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts Box Office hours are from Monday to Friday: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and on Saturday from 1:00 PM to the beginning of a performance. Don't miss out on the November 2019 performances.
