Oakville Conserves Energy Fair set for May 24

Easy ways to conserve energy is the theme for this year’s Oakville Conserves Energy Fair set for Saturday, May 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Town Hall. This annual community event showcases green energy information, services and products from companies, groups and agencies from across Halton and the Greater Toronto Area. New this year is the addition of the Let’s be Livable Community Sustainability open house.

“The town is committed to conserving energy and this event offers the community great energy conservation information in a way that’s fun and educational,” said Cindy Toth, director, Environmental Policy for the Town of Oakville. “Residents can also check out the Let’s be Livable open house to share their ideas on to how create a more sustainable community.”

Over 20 exhibitors will be displayed in the North and South Atriums at Town Hall to offer advice and demonstrate their products. The town’s Oakville Fire Prevention unit will have their two new Ford Focus electric vehicles that are used by the unit to do their training and education at locations around town. These electric cars will conserve energy and fuel to help reduce the negative impact on air quality.

There’s something for everyone at this year’s Oakville Conserves Energy Fair with an interactive kids zone and lots of free giveaways!

Don’t forget, the Oakvillegreen Community Garage Sale and BBQ will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. the same day in the Town Hall parking lot.
