Mayor Burton is holding his first-ever student holiday card contest for children in Grade 1 – 8. Students will have the chance to enter their original artwork for a chance to be featured on the Mayor of Oakville’s holiday card. Two winning submissions will be chosen – one from the Grade 1- 5 level and one from the Grade 6 – 8 level.

“This contest is a great way to capture the vibrancy of how Oakville celebrates the holiday season through the eyes of youth,” said Mayor Rob Burton. “The winners will have their artwork featured on a holiday card that is distributed to over 1,500 people in and around the Oakville area.”

Students are being asked to draw a local holiday scene or event that represents Oakville. Original entries must be submitted in the form of a drawing, sketch or painting and meet the following requirements:

  1. Minimum size: 4” x 6”
  2. Maximum size: 8.5” x 11”
  3. Acceptable materials include paper or canvas
  4. Do not fold artwork
  5. Accompanied with a completed entry form

Each entry must be accompanied by a completed entry form signed by a parent/guardian of the artist. Entry forms are available online at oakville.ca/mayor or in-person from the ServiceOakville counter located just inside of Town Hall.

Finished artwork, accompanied with a signed entry form, may be submitted in person at the ServiceOakville counter or by regular mail to Hillary McKenzie, in the Mayor’s Office, 1225 Trafalgar Road, Oakville, ON L6H 0H3. Mailed entries must be received prior to the submission deadline of Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 4:30 p.m.
