The Oakville & Milton Humane Society announced today that they will be lowering adoption prices for all cats over six months of age in response to the unusually high cat population in the shelter this January. The cat adopt-a-thon will see adoption prices lowered from $150 to $75 until January 31st for cats six months of age and older. The adoption fee includes: all vaccines up to date, spayed or neutered, micro chipped, six weeks of free pet insurance courtesy of Pets Plus Us Pet Insurance and a small bag of Hills Science Diet cat food.

“While our adoption fees have been lowered, our adoption application process remains the same” said Stephanie Aleksich, Customer Care Manager for the OMHS. “We want each of the cats adopted to go to a loving “forever” home, so our adoption councillors will be working with each potential family to make sure it’s a great match” she said.

The Oakville & Milton Humane Society has over 300 cats in their care, which is higher than normal for this time of year. The increase in population is due, in part, to the 100+ cats that were rescued from an investigation in Halton Hills in the fall of 2013. The first of the cats from the investigation that are ready for adoption are included in the cat adopt-a-thon.
