Oakville Services over Christmas 2016: What's Open or Closed

As the holiday season grows closer, the Town of Oakville Council and staff would like to take this time to wish you and your family happy holidays. Enjoy this special time with family and friends and please keep the following information in mind:

Town Hall

Town Hall will be closed as of December 24, 2016, re-opening on January 2, 2017. All online services will still be available. To report emergencies related to roads, traffic lights and signs, parks and trees or flooding and storms, call 905-845-6601 to be connected with our afterhours dispatch service.

Parking

To book temporary overnight parking please use our online permit system. Temporary on-street parking permits (passenger vehicles only) are issued if you need to park on the road for longer than three hours or between 2 and 6 a.m. The permit does not allow the vehicle to be parked contrary to any other parking regulations.

Community centres, pools and arenas

Community centres, pools and arenas will be closed from noon on December 24 to 26, December 31, 2016 after 4 p.m. and January 1, 2017.

Youth Centres

  1. Bronte Youth Centre will closed December 23 to 27, 31, 2016 and January 1, 2017 and open for regular hours on December 19 to 22, 28 to 30, 2016 and January 2, 2017.
  2. QEPCCC Youth Centre will be closed December 24 to 27, 31, 2016 and January 1, 2017, and open on December 19 to 22, 28 to 30, 2016, January 2, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. and December 23, 2016 from 3:30-9 p.m.
  3. Nottinghill Youth Centre will be closed December 24 to 26, 31, 2016, and January 1 and 2, 2017, and open on December 27 to 30, 2016, January 3 to 7, 2017 from 3 to 8 p.m.

Seniors centres

Seniors centres will be closed at noon on December 24, 2016 and will re-open on January 2, 2017 with the following exceptions:

  1. The Oakville Seniors' Centre will be open for drop-in activities on December 28, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  2. The Sir John Colborne Centre will be open for drop-in activities on December 29, 2016 from 8:30 a.m.to 4:30 p.m.
  3. The QEP Older Adult Centre will be closed on Friday, December 23 and will re-open on Monday, January 2, 2017.

Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts

The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts box office will be closed December 24 to 27, 30, 2016, and January 1, 2017.

The Oakville Centre will be open for performances on December 28, 29 and 31, 2016.

Oakville Museum

The Oakville Museum at Erchless Estate will be closed December 24 to 26, 31, 2016 and January 1, 2017. The museum will be open December 27, 2016 and will return to regular business hours on January 3, 2017.

Central Operations

Central Operations Depot will be closed December 24 to 27, 30, 31, 2016 and January 1, 2017.

Oakville Public Library

All library branches will be closed from December 24 to 26, 31, 2016 and January 1, 2017.

Fire Administration, Training and Fire Prevention Divisions

  1. Fire Administration, will be closed at noon on December 24, 2016 and will re-open on January 2, 2017.
  2. The Fire Prevention and Fire Training Divisions will be closed at 6 p.m. on December 24, 2016, re-opening December 29 to 31 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

December 23: Regular weekday service with early homebound service

December 24: Saturday level of service

December 25: Sunday service (8 a.m.–8 p.m.)

December 26 and 27: Saturday level of service

December 30: Regular weekday service with early homebound service

December 31: Saturday service. Ride FREE after 7 p.m. on New Year's Eve. Additional Late Night Service will meet the last trains from Toronto, departing the Oakville GO Station at 2:30 and 3:30 a.m.

January 1: Sunday service (8 a.m.–8 p.m.)

January 2: Saturday service

School specials will not operate from December 26, 2016 to January 6, 2017.
