Oakville's Canada Day 2016 in Bronte: Fireworks & Fun

Get ready for THE party of summer 2016 and it’s FREE. No admission charge required* for a superb day of fun in the sun! The over 200 business merchants of Bronte Village Business Improvement Area, better known as the Bronte BIA, invite you. This annual tradition will welcome over 65,000 people throughout the course of the day to enjoy the celebrations, the fireworks and beautiful Bronte Harbour Tourist Area, Oakville’s Waterfront Destination!

Bring your lawn chairs. From 11:00am, come enjoy our sparkling lakeside park, pier, boardwalk and our village of shops and restaurants. Pack a bag - blanket, hats, sunscreen, kiddies and strollers, and prepare to spend the day with us. Many of our Bronte stores, restaurants and cafes, many with new patios, are open to welcome you, some with entertainment. Wear red and white and show your pride in being Canadian eh?

Enjoy samplings of food outdoors from participating restaurants and many other food providers, including the Catch Hospitality Beer Garden with an expanded menu this year and sponsored in part by Catch Hospitality Group.

Visit the Vendor Village featuring an array of products from near and far off lands, in addition to our health and wellness and professional service provider’s area.

Entertainment

Between 11:00 and 6:00pm, there are loads of things for kids to do in the KidZone, with bouncies, sponsored in part by Niagara Inflatables and Games for a nominal fee and the Aladdin Show on the Main Stage at 11:30am and 1:30pm.

The festival boasts a fantastic live music lineup on the Main Stage including Tributes to the Guess Who (No Sugar Tonight, and Supertramp (Dreamer) and on the Cogeco Community Stage with community performers, all with no admission, a great value for families and people of all ages. The afternoon Main Stage opening ceremonies presentation will begin approximately at 3:15pm when the Royal Canadian Legion’s Colour Party and Halton Police Pipe and Drums will lead our dignitaries to the Main Stage for greetings and the signing of Oh Canada. Birthday cupcakes will be served to the first two-hundred kids.

End the day and evening with the spectacular show of the whole event, the magnificent fireworks show from a huge barge off Bronte Pier…..the Big Bang! Our fireworks celebration will be simulcast on K-Lite 102.9. for people at home but in viewing distance. PLEASE DON’T ALL RUSH AWAY at the same time, music will continue after the fireworks, stay and enjoy the music and the moonlight on the lake until the traffic congestion thins out. Make the drive home less stressful!

Transportation

FREE School Bus Shuttle bus service: Ride the Canada Day shuttle departing from the Burloak RioCan Centre south of the QEW, east on Wyecroft Rd. to Bronte Village all day long.

  1. Pickup will be in front of Home Outfitters
  2. First bus will depart RioCAN for Bronte at 10:30am
  3. Last bus will depart RioCAN at 9:00pm to make it into Bronte for the Fireworks
  4. Last bus will depart Bronte for RioCAN around 11:00pm (once crowds have cleared)

Oakville Transit: Will be operating on a holiday schedule. Service will be provided from 8am to 8pm. There will be NO Oakville Transit service operating after 8pm to or from the event. Parking

  1. Parking will be extremely restricted in the Bronte Village core.
  2. There will be NO public ‘on-street’ parking south of Lakeshore Rd. all day in the event zone.
  3. Cars WILL be towed. Take the FREE Canada Day school shuttle bus.
  4. Better yet why not ride your bike, thhe Willson International Bike Corral will be provided at the park (unsupervised)
