Chelsie Vaillancourt, Flute | OCO
Chelsie Vaillancourt, Flute | OCO

We’re proud to present this prize winners concert from our second annual Youth Concerto Competition. These young prodigies will astound you with their skills in these exciting concertos! This is a free, family friendly concert. Bring the family and celebrate the talent of these young performers. Prize winning soloists include Arielle Silverberg, Violin; Chelsie Vaillancourt, Flute; Leslie Bickle, Soprano; and Jasmine Lin, Violin.

Chelsie Vaillancourt, one of our young musicians states “Working with the Oakville Chamber Orchestra has been a wonderful experience. Playing with a fine ensemble is a thrill like no other and it’s my pleasure to be able to perform part of a Mozart Flute Concerto live for you. It’s a lovely piece, one of the most important today in the flute repertoire… so it's quite funny to me that apparently Mozart never actually enjoyed writing music for the flute!”

Chelsie completed her grade nine year in June, as a student in the Performing Arts Program at O’Neill CVI high school in Oshawa. She began her flute studies at the age of seven under the tutelage of Suzuki Teacher Trainer, Dr. Pandora Bryce.

Currently, she studies flute with Dr. Bryce and TSO (Toronto Symphony Orchestra), Associate Principle Flutist, Julie Ranti. Chelsie has one many awards including placing 1st in 2012 and 2nd in 2013 at the Ontario Music Festivals Association’s (OMFA) Provincial finals.

We welcome the opportunity to shine the spotlight on all of these talented musicians on the cusp of spectacular careers!
