In Conversation with The Right Honourable David Johnston

The 28th Governor General of Canada talks about his book Trust - Twenty Ways to Build a Better Country on Tuesday, October 9th at 7:00 PM.

Trust is Canada. Trust in each other; in our businesses, organizations, and markets; and in our public institutions and the officials who run them.

Trust is Canada. Trust in each other; in our businesses, organizations, and markets; and in our public institutions and the officials who run them.

David Johnston reflects on seven decades of personal experiences including seven years as Governor General. He identifies the 20 ways we can make ourselves, our organizations, and our institutions even more trusting, and in in order to build a better Canada for generations.

This new book follows-up on The Idea of Canada. The author draws upon his own remarkable experience illustrating where his strong convictions came from.

In this book; however, Johnston strikes notes that are more universally applicable than those in any of this earlier works.

Speaks directly to the reader, he offers practical advice about the attitudes, approaches, and habits that make a person trustworthy.

Second, he offers compelling evidence that enduring community trust can be built with similarly simple techniques. Third, by drawing examples from Canadian and international experience, he shows how a whole nation can become trustworthy and, ultimately, trusted by its citizens, allies, trading partners and other societies.

In short, Trust is a much-needed manual for the repair of the one social quality on which all others are based.

America is expanding. The railroad is stretching westward to lands of untold promise. In the middle of the desert, a town comes to life. The Saloon doors swing open to show a motley cast of people, each with a tale to tell.

In Cirque Éloize’s Saloon, the infectious energy of folk music and strains of fiddle set the tone for an acrobatic comedy that sweeps spectators away in a mad flurry.

The lovebirds on the run wreak havoc wherever they go, from the deserted plains to the depths of the mine, until the last acrobatic duel.

Swing open the Saloon doors and enter a mythical world created by live music and the exhilarating pace of spectacular performances.
