Remembrance Day 2014: Here's What is Happening November 11th

The honouring of Oakville's Veterans takes place at several venues which include Bronte on November 9th, Downtown Oakville and Oak Park on November 11th.

Bronte Legion Remembrance Day Service Sunday Nov. 9th 11am at the Bronte Cenotaph on Lakeshore Road. Meet at the Legion-79 Jones St. at 10:00am. Fall in on the street at the Legion at 10:30 am and march to the Cenotaph on Lakeshore Rd at Bronte Harbour for 11:00 am service. After the service, march back to the Legion and a light lunch will be served to all those who participate. The public is invited.

Downtown Oakville Remembrance Day Service takes place on November 11th at 10:45 PM at St. George's Square. This service will include the laying of wreaths by political leadership and community groups, a full military parade with all EMS services taking part. There is a special seating area for War Veteran and their families. The Cenotaph is located at Trafalgar Road and Sumner Road. Trafalgar Road will be closed for the memorial service.

Memorial Park in the Oak Park community of River Oaks will be having a service with Councillor Jeff Knoll starting at 10:40 AM on November 11. The park is dedicated to service man and women who lost their lives in WWI, WWII, and the Korean War from Trafalgar Township. The war memorial is located just of Oak Park Blvd between Hays Blvd and Central Parkway Drive.

If you can not make it to one of the services, a moment of silence at 11:00 AM is a great way to privately honour these valiant fighters.
