Oakville has a long and very proud heritage of men and women who in the service of our country have lost their lives, so that we may have the freedoms we are so fortunate to enjoy in Canada. Please take a moment to honour the men and women who fought for our freedom on Remembrance Day.
Bronte Legion ceremony
This is event takes place on Sunday, November 8,2015 at 10:30 a.m.
Meet at the Legion-79 on Jones Street at 10 a.m. Fall in on the street at the Legion at 10:30 a.m. and march to the Cenotaph on Lakeshore Road at Bronte Harbour for 11 a.m. service. After the service, the participants will march back to the Legion where a light lunch will be served to all those who participate. The public is invited. George's Square ceremony
This is Oakville's primary remembrance Day service and is held on November 11, 2015 starting at 10:30 a.m.
The Parade of veterans starts at Centennial Square, intersection of Church and Navy streets, and ends at George's Square, on Trafalgar Road between Summer and Palmer avenues. It is hosted by Oakville Legion Branch 114
At 10:30 a.m. Veterans (followed by members of the Armed Forces, RCMP, OPP, Halton Police, Oakville Firefighters, Knights of Columbus, Cadets, Scouts and Guides, and local dignitaries) depart from Church and Navy streets and march along Lakeshore Road and up Trafalgar Road to the Cenotaph at George's Square.
At 11 a.m. the Ceremony at George's Square will include two minutes of silence and a wreath laying ceremony. After the ceremony, veterans march back to Church and Navy streets. For more information contact the Oakville Legion at 905-845-6271.
Trafalgar Memorial ceremony
The Memorial is located in Memorial Park off Oak Park Blvd. between Hays Blvd and Central Parkway Drive.
The ceremony will take place on November 11th, 2015 at 10:45 a.m. followed by a moment of silence at 11 a.m.. This is a civilian service, and is traditionally been run by Councillor Jeff Knoll and Councillor Marc Grant of Ward 5.
