As the holiday season grows closer, the Town of Oakville Council and staff would like to take this time to wish you and your family happy holidays. For town facility holiday hours visit the 2014 holiday hour public notice.

Enjoy this special time with family and friends and please keep the following information in mind:

ServiceOakville

ServiceOakville will be open to take calls on December 29 and 30, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on December 31, 2014, from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

On-street parking

Cars cannot be parked on the street between 2 and 6 a.m. from November 15 to April 15. If you are expecting to have overnight holiday guests and you have no room in your driveway, request a temporary on-street permit before December 24 at 11 a.m. at 905-338-4394. For one night of unplanned overnight on-street parking between December 24 at noon and January 2, leave a message at 905-338-4394 with your address and license plate number. Parking officers will be on duty throughout the holiday season but the Parking offices will be closed as of December 24 at noon, reopening on January 2, 2015.

Fire safety

The Oakville Fire department would like to remind you that with the hustle and bustle of the holidays, we may be a bit distracted. Please put safety first. Never leave cooking or candles unattended. Decorative lights should be inspected every year before using them. If wiring is frayed or worn they should be replaced. Don’t forget to turn off the Christmas tree lights before going to bed or whenever you leave your home and to keep it watered. Snow clearing

Over the holiday season, town staff continues to ensure that snow plows and salt trucks are prepared for any weather activity. For snow clearing updates, visit the snow tracker page or call the Snow Line at 905-815-5999. Visit the snow clearing page for more information.

Oakville Transit

Oakville Transit will continue to provide service over the holidays. Please visit Oakville Transit website for revised schedules.

Arenas, community and senior centres

The town’s arenas, community and senior centres continue to offer residents a great place to gather with family and friends. Visit the 2014 holiday hour public notice page for closures.

Recreational activities

Enjoy one of the many free holiday skates from December 23-31. For outdoor fun, hike one of the many town trails or take the kids to an outdoor skating rink. Visit the Free Skates page for more information.
