The Oakville Chamber Orchestra is proud to be partnering with the Oakville Public Library this season. Our first event together is a free family event, designed to share the joy of music with children of all ages.
Gayle Casey, OPL children's librarian, will be reading Zin! Zin! Zin! A Violin by Lloyd Moss to the children in attendance and after she will be joined by members of the OCO to present "The Family Feud" . The Family Feud is a story that introduces the different families of instruments of the orchestra and then debates which is the best!
Oakville Chamber Orchestra performers are: Alex Gajic, violin; Alain Bouvier, violin; Christine Murphy, viola; Bettie Baer, cello; Nora Nolan, trumpet; Greg James, clarinet and Michael Murphy, percussion.
"We are delighted to partner with the Oakville Public Library to share the joy of classical music," says board member Dana Dennaoui. "One of our goals for this year was to reach out to the younger members of our community. Programs such as the Youth Concerto Competition have been an integral part of this outreach, and we also wanted to engage the younger children in Oakville. Partnering with the OPL was the natural choice because of their success in bringing arts and culture one step closer to residents of all ages. This Saturday, children will be introduced to instruments such as strings and percussion, and we hope everyone will enjoy this free event. We look forward to bringing more joy and delight to the hearts of all through Classical Music.“
Storytime will take place at the main branch of the Oakville Library in the children's area from 11 am - 12 pm. The OCO partnership with the OPL continues with a Meet The Maestro event on April 23 featuring OCO Music Director Charles Demuynck and Concerto Competition junior winner Emma Meinrenken.
