Prototype Sports Performance, located at 1027 Speers Rd will be holding its Grand Opening on April 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Prototype Sports Performance is a new business in Oakville that will offer a holistic approach to athlete development and wellness.
PSP seeks to serve the community by offering a number of services to youth athletes and teams including Athlete Development, which involves strength and conditioning training, nutrition consulting, and sports psychology consulting.
Individual personal training, and fascial stretch therapy will also e available.
The business is owned and operated by two former university varsity athletes Justin Vince, 31, played football at McMaster University, and Brien Chamney, 29, played soccer at Syracuse University.
Vince and Chamney possess post-graduate educational degrees. Chamney has a Master's degree in Human Kinetics and Vince has a Teaching degree. Both Vince and Chamney worked as personal trainers during their education.
“Through out our education and our athletic careers, we were able to identify what makes a good coach and a good learning environment for athletes” says Vince. “We’ve seen the good, the bad, and the ugly of the effects sports training can have on someone,” added Chamney.
“We focus on developing the person as a whole instead of just focusing on the physical development,” says Vince. Their services aim to work on a more personal level with the athletes mixing workout with one-on-one and group coaching.
Chamney and Vince plan to reach out to the community by attending local baseball tournaments, track and field events and offering their services there for free to help advertise their business.
