Oakville Coronavirus August 15th Update

- The town issues new parking fines to combat overcrowding at downtown parks

Ontario COVID-19 Update
- Ontario has more than 100 new cases for only the second time in two weeks
- Nearly half of all new cases are coming from Peel and Toronto regions
- New rules begin today for indoor sport and recreation centres
- All of Ontario is now in Stage 3 reopening
- Ontario's current positive testing rate is 0.3%
- This is the percentage of tests that come back positive
- Number of institutional outbreaks down 25% from last week

- Canada's active cases have dropped 32% since last Saturday
- Active cases in Manitoba and British Columbia have nearly doubled this week
- The Canada/USA border closure is extended again until at least September 21, 2020
- The New York Times releases a report estimating US coronavirus deaths could be tens of thousands higher
- India reaches 2.5 million cases
- Yesterday's global death count of 9,625 the second highest since the pandemic began
