Ontario is providing $4.1 million in 2016–17 to community health service providers across the province to keep these agencies in a state of good repair so patients can continue to receive high-quality care in a safe and healthy environment.
In Oakville, Support & Housing – Halton will receive more than $155,262 this year through the Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund (CIRF). These investments will include: roof replacement, sidewalk replacement, and foundation lead repair. This project will address much needed improvement to the accessibility to the building and prevent future water damage.
Support & Housing - Halton was founded in 1982 by family and friends who wanted to ensure that people with mental health issues could remain or return to their community. Properties run by Support & Housing in Oakville included: Chartwell Residence, Grace House, two townhomes, and several apartments.
“Providing infrastructure funding to community health service providers is part of our commitment to put patients first and ensures that Ontarians receive care in a safe and healthy environment. Important investments like this one help to build a health care system that delivers high-quality care today and a sustainable system in the future," commented Dr. Eric Hoskins, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care.
Across Ontario, 59 community health service providers at 70 sites will receive funding to support crucial infrastructure projects to extend the useful life of their facilities, improve accessibility and enhance quality of care. Projects may include upgrades or replacements to roofs, windows, HVAC systems and fire alarms.
Increased investment in community health care is part of the government’s plan to build a better Ontario through its Patients First: Action Plan for Health Care. This plan provides clients with faster access to the right care, better home and community care, the information they need to live healthy, and a health care system that is sustainable for generations to come.
