The Board of Directors of Oakville Minor Baseball Association (Baseball Oakville) today announced an $180,000 contribution from CIBC. The proceeds from the contribution will be used to fund player development and training, coach development, and the establishment of a fund for future capital projects including a permanent training facility.
In August 2013, Baseball Oakville was informed that the Treasurer at the time had unilaterally misappropriated Baseball Oakville funds and concealed his actions from the Board and all members. A special committee of the Board of Directors - Andreas Papadopoulos, Tony Busseri and Rishi Bandhu - has been working with the CIBC to determine the nature and extent of the former treasurer’s actions. Upon the conclusion of this investigation, the OMBA has made a number of changes to its business practices. CIBC has also made a contribution of $180,000 to support the development of youth baseball in Oakville.
These funds will enable us to continue improving the baseball programming we offer to all of our players.

Baseball Oakville had more than 600 players registered for the 2014 season, including 350 House League players on 31 teams. More than 330 ball players attended tryouts for the 2015 Rep A’s program and 20 teams, including an entry in the new Midget Elite League (MEL), will represent the Oakville A’s next summer. House League programming will continue to focus on the grassroots development of the sport, with indoor development clinics throughout the winter for all levels of player.
Indoor Training Facility
As announced in July 2014, the OMBA’s new Indoor Training Facility is set to open in late October – early November 2014. The 10,700 square foot Indoor Training Facility will become the cornerstone for player training and development in Oakville for the next five years. Centrally located at 2270 Speers Road in Oakville, the Facility will provide players with access to the year round training with experienced coaches in a professional setting.
Corbetts Source for Sports in Oakville has been chosen as the Baseball Oakville’s Indoor Training Facility partner. Corbetts has been a long time supplier to Baseball Oakville providing all of the Facility’s required training equipment. Vendors participating in outfitting our facility through Corbetts include Rawlings, Worth and Jugs.
Key features of the Facility include:
- All training area to be fully covered with turf;
- 5,000 square feet (50'x100') of open space for fielding and skills training, featuring 22 foot plus ceiling height;
- 3 full length hitting tunnels featuring Jugs pitching machines;
- Pitching areas featuring both portable and clay mounds; and
- Parent viewing area.
