In only the Blue Devils FC's second season in League1 Ontario, the women have quickly ascended to the top of Canada's top Pro-Am Women's Soccer League.

Oakville waited a whole 20 minutes before they brought the hammer down on visitors Unionville Milliken on Sunday.

Striker Mahira Ali broke the deadlock with a glorious header. She rose to meet Leanne Forker cross beating the opposition's goalkeeper to put the ball into the gaping net. There was no turning back from there.

University of Michigan standout Sarah Stratigakis got her first of two goals in the match 7 minutes later. By the end of the half, Leanne Forker and Vice Captain Jivan Yacou would make it 4-0.

If the Blue Devils have been anything - it's consistent this season. The one thing they've been most consistent about is coming out strong in the second half.

Blue Devils Head coach John Yacou will be the first point this out. "I've been saying it all season long, we've won the second half in almost every game we've played. These girls just come out with such great energy in the second 45! I don't think there is anyone in this league that can match it."

Stratigakis got the women rolling in the second half . She headed in a corner kick 11 minutes after the restart. Shauna Lee and Maria Poveda scored their first goals of 2019. Finally, Mahira Ali put in the 8th goal.

Oakville's Goalkeeper Elisa Lapadula won her 5th game of the season and recorded her 4th Clean Sheet of 2019.

After the match players and coaches spent the next 90 minutes refreshing their Twitter feeds awaiting the updates on the match between Vaughan and Oshawa.

Newcomers FC Oshawa pulled off the upset. This put Oakville atop the League1 Ontario Women's Table.

Now, the Blue Devils Women sit 2 points clear of Vaughan at the end of Week 11.

The Oakville Blue Devils FC Women will return to action next weekend at home against Aurora FC.

Kick off will be 2 pm, Sunday, July 21st at Sheridan College.
