All Oakville residents are invited to join Cycle Oakville and Oakvillegreen for a leisurely bike ride on Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 1 – 3 p.m., to explore the natural beauty of Sixteen Mile Creek and trails.

"Last year we held our first bike ride with Cycle Oakville to explore our natural heritage, and we were thrilled with the outcome," said Karen Brock, president of Oakvillegreen. "This year we have chosen a different route to showcase a stretch of Sixteen Mile Valley that many may not be familiar with. It's one of Oakville's hidden natural treasures.”

Cyclists will meet at the Lions Valley Park parking lot at 12:45 p.m. Access to this lot is via Lions Valley Park Road, which is south off Dundas just west of Neyagawa. Trails are suitable for all ages, but it will be necessary to walk bikes up the steep valley slope (only once!) on this guided circuit.

Oakville has an extensive and beautiful trail system. A mountain bike is not required since the natural or limestone trails are flat and easily ridden.

All ages and abilities are welcome to participate and we ask that children be accompanied by an adult. Helmets are recommended for all, but required for anyone 18 and under.

Cycle Oakville is committed to exploring the town’s beautiful parks and trails by bicycle – many of which often go unnoticed. For over a decade, Oakvillegreen, Oakville’s largest residents’ association, has been working to protect the environment and promote sustainable planning. Together, these organizations remind us to take the time to savor the initiatives being done to protect our wonderful community.

This trail tour is one of many group rides that Cycle Oakville will be hosting throughout the summer. For more information on upcoming rides and Cycle Oakville, please visit: http://www.cycleoakville.ca
