If you thought glow sticks were only for the 90’s… think again. Cycle Oakville is hosting its first ever glow in the dark bike ride.

All Oakville residents who want to enjoy our beautiful town safely at night are invited to meet on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 8:45 p.m. at Oakville’s Midnight Madness. This bright and radiant ride will start at 9:00 p.m. following neighbourhood streets and returning back to downtown Oakville. The ride will be approx. eight km. Participants are asked to meet at the bike valet on the corner of Robinson and Thomas.

This bright idea came from TA Blakelock student, Charlotte de Caen Mische, who is taking the lead on organizing this event.

"I love riding my bike and I thought it would be a fun and unique way to promote cycling in Oakville.," said Charlotte.

Lights and reflectors are mandatory, however, have fun and get creative with extra bright decorations! Before or after the ride is the perfect opportunity to visit merchants and restaurants in downtown Oakville and show off your glowing gear.

Cycle Oakville has always supported the local business improvement areas as a means to developing bicycle friendly business districts. We hope this ride will bring new people downtown and we encourage riders to take part in Midnight Madness before and after the ride.

All ages and abilities are welcome to participate. Helmets are recommended for all, but required for anyone 18 and under.

This ride is part of Cycle Oakville's series of leisurely rides designed to encourage residents to shop, dine, explore and discover. More information on Cycle Oakville can be found at www.cycleoakville.ca, on Facebook www.facebook.com/cycleoakville or on Twitter @CycleOakville.
