Final Qualifiers into the 2013 RBC Canadian Open

Andrew Georgiou of Cape Town, South Africa and Peter Laws of Milton, Ont., both carded 7-under 64’s during Monday’s Final Qualifier at Heron Point Golf Links to earn spots into this week’s RBC Canadian Open at Glen Abbey Golf Club.

Georgiou, 27, earned his position in the Final Qualifier by winning the RBC Canadian Open Regional B.C. Qualifier last month. The PGA TOUR Canada and Sunshine Tour player will be making his first appearance at the RBC Canadian Open, while Laws, 30, will make his second start after playing in the 2003 Canadian Open at Hamilton Golf and Country Club.

Jesse Smith, 33, of Six Nations, Ont., earned the third spot after posting a 6-under 65, he also competed at the 2013 U.S. Open earlier this year.

Team Canada’s Eric Banks, 20, of Truro, N.S., earned the final spot into the field after sinking a birdie putt on the third hole of a sudden death playoff with Jake Scott and Wes Homan.

After Monday’s Final Qualifier, a total of 19 Canadians are set to compete in the 2013 RBC Canadian Open.
