Just a week after sweeping their three game set last week, which included a game against their opponent on Friday, the Oakville Blades managed to hold on to a 3-1 victory against the Buffalo Jr. Sabres for their sixth straight win.

It took the Blades just one shot to score the first goal of the game against the Sabres. Josh Kosack, who had 13 points in the past five games, made a great pass to a quick moving Christian Rajic, who doesn't exactly miss a lot when he touches the puck. Rajic  ended up making a quick deke around Sabres goaltender Tucker Weppner for the 1-0 goal after 4:20 of play in the game.

The Blades held on to the pressure for the most part, despite allowing more shots. It all paid off at 13:19 of the first period when the Blades were on the power play, scoring their second goal of the game after a nice play in front. Bryce Misley was getting pressured by two defenders to make a move in the slot, but he still managed to make a nice spin move to make a pass to Drew Worrad. #67 was in a perfect position to take a shot, and with Weppner out of position, Worrad fired in his 21st of the season making it 2-0 Blades heading into the intermission.

Nobody found the back of the net in the second period. Unfortunately for the Blades, they didn't score next. A defensive collapse with three minutes off the board in the third period resulted in Brenden Dunning wiring home a one-timer from Griffin Lunn on the power play making it 2-1.

Brendan McGlynn was absolutely on fire all night, despite allowing a goal in the third. The Blades starting goaltender, who is expected to tend the crease in the upcoming OJHL playoffs, made 30 saves before Buffalo finally cracked him, easily keeping Oakville in a game that could have potentially seen a totally different score. In fact, it was a big save by McGlynn that helped send the puck the other way, as Patrick Kudla found Josh Kosack all alone at Buffalo's blue line before #27 made a nice deke for the 3-1 goal, capping off the victory in a close contest on Friday. McGlynn finished as the game's top star, making 39 saves for one of his best games since joining the Blades back in 2013-2014.

With the win, the Blades will focus their efforts on their Valentine's Day matchup against the North York Rangers on Sunday at 3 pm on the road. Oakville has two more home games left before the playoffs. Their next home game will be at 7:30 pm on Friday against the Toronto Jr. Canadiens. Hope to see you there!
